What are Quick Rules?

Definition

Quick Rules define specific actions that the system should take based on certain conditions.

How to Use?

The Quick rules are defined in Business Rules.

Steps for creating a new Quick Rule:

• Search for Business Rule in the search bar and Open the Business Rule Card page.

• Then Enter the Description in the new line. And click on the Details button. A Quick Rule Card Page will be Visible.

  
  

  

Components of Quick Rule Card Page:

• Description: Define the description of the Quick Rule.

• Trigger Type: Specifies the event that activates the rule (e.g., Insert, Modify, Delete). You can use any field of any table in Business Central to define a trigger.

• Trigger Field: Trigger field can only use placeholders in the format [Table ID:Field ID].

• Trigger Description: It will be automatically filled with the captions of the placeholder mentioned in the trigger field when the trigger field gets validated.

• Enable: If this field is true, then only the Quick Rule will work.

• Linked Tables: Here you can establish a relation between two or more tables.

  
  

  

  
  

• Validations:

  • Type: Determines if the line is a Scenario or a Condition.

    • Scenario: If the criteria are not met, the system skips the execution of the rule.

    • Condition: Checked only if all scenario criteria are met.

  • Validate Field: Specifies the field to be tested or validated. You can use any field from the Trigger Table or any Reference Table.

  • Condition: A filter string used to test the Validate field. Placeholders can be used within the filter string.

• Actions:

  • Actions are executed if the criteria defined in the condition are met.

  • Type: Specifies the type of action to be performed.

  • Code: Choose the code that will be executed when the condition is satisfied.
